Susana Salas has traveled extensively
overseas in both the New and Old Worlds. While working in sea turtle biology and conservation, she traveled to
places like India and China, where she gathered information that would later help her develop
the recipes that she uses to prepare the cuisine at Café Caburé. She has always had a fervent interest
in building design, and was the person most responsible for the architectural layout of the tourism complex
called Paseo de Stella, of which Café Caburé is an integral part. |
| Bob Carlson has a degree in ecology and has worked in
conservation in Costa Rica most of his professional life. He came to Costa Rica as a Peace Corps
Volunteer, and later became the Director of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve. He also spent a few
years as the manager of the Green Sea Turtle Research Station in Tortuguero, Costa Rica. As a young adult, he
spent his summers working as a carpenter, which served him well in his managerial roles which always seemed
to involve some sort of building skills. He was the contractor in charge of construction of the Paseo de Stella
tourism complex. |
